How to clean a Ninja Coffee Maker

There are a few specialty coffee makers available through Ninja, and each can be cleaned using the following steps.

Step 1.

Clean After Every Brew

  • After brewing, allow the coffee maker to cool, and then remove and discard the paper filter and grounds.
  • If you use a permanent filter, empty the grounds and wash the filter in warm, soapy water.
  • Wash the milk frother whisk, if applicable, after each use in warm, soapy water or place on the top rack of the dishwasher.
  • Use a bottle brush or sponge to wash the carafe and lid with warm, soapy water.

Tip

The glass carafe, lid, permanent filter, removable filter holder, water reservoir flip-top lid, frother whisk, and scoop are all dishwasher top-rack safe. The taller water reservoir can be placed on the dishwasher’s bottom rack.

Step 2.

Do a Weekly Cleaning

  • Empty the water reservoir and wash it thoroughly with warm, soapy water or place it in the dishwasher upright on the bottom rack with the opening facing down.
  • If you haven’t cleaned the carafe after every brew, wash it well to remove coffee oils that can cling to the glass and turn rancid.
  • Use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe down the main unit to remove any splatters.

Warning:

Never immerse the entire coffee maker in water as this can ruin the equipment and become a safety hazard.

Step 3.

Descale the Coffee Maker

  • When the CLEAN button (lower left on the control panel) illuminates, it’s time to descale the coffee maker.
  • Select the Full Carafe size and put the carafe in place.
  • Add 2 cups (16 ounces) of distilled white vinegar to the empty water reservoir and then fill to the Max Fill line with distilled water.
  • Press the CLEAN button. The cleaning cycle takes around 60 minutes and will be complete when the CLEAN light turns off.
  • Empty the carafe and place it back under the brew basket.
  • Fill the reservoir to the Max Fill line with distilled water and run a Full Carafe brew cycle.
  • When the cycle is complete, empty the water and wash the carafe in warm, soapy water and rinse well before brewing a fresh, tasty pot of coffee.
